Holidays in Igea Marina

Igea Marina is one of the most important seaside resort in the Riviera of Romagna, together with its neighbour Bellaria, they create the Bellaria-Igea Marina City Council, located 14 kilometers north of Rimini The two towns are divided by the harbour created on the mouth of the river Uso, and Igea Marina is on the harbour’s right side, stretched up to Torre Pedrera.

According to the mythology, Igea was the daughter of Asclepio, the god of the medicine. The name Igea Marina was given to the town by a naturalist doctor, Vittorio Belli (1870-1953) at the beginning of the 1900.  In fact, in that period he designed a village on the sandy dunes between the river Uso and the town Torre Pedrera, with the scope of attracting people to spend their holidays.

The town centre is composed of Viale Ennio (in the lower part, from the railway down to the seafront) and its surrounding streets, that have been transformed in a nice pedestrian area with a fashionable urban fitment.  These are the places that every night are bustling of life, attracting all visitors for a nice walk, for an Italian delicious ice-cream, for a piadina or simply to participate to one of the many events and shows that the Municipality organises.

Igea Marina is also proud to be one of the greenest areas along the coast: with its Parco del Gelso, just behind the Acquamarina Hotel, Igea Marina is inique in the experiences it offers. The flourishing vegetation (pinetrees, oaks, wild orchids) and the thematic areas (such as the butterflies’ garden) make it one of the most interesting destinations during your holiday in Bellaria Igea Marina.  
In the south part of the town, at the borders with Torre Pedrera, there is the Parco Pavese: a particularly fascinating area because of its proximity to the beach and for its tendency to host parties and festivals. And just on the beach in front of the Parco Pavese the nightlife gives its best ideas! The summer nights are always active and trendy at the Becky Bay, a famous meeting point for young people and for lively events such as concerts and the most popular deejays of the moment, that attract people even from other parts of the coast as well as the hinterland.

Because of the above described characteristics, Igea Marina is a town that has to be discovered step by step, in its variety and charm. A tour by bicycle (almost all hotels provide them for free for theirs guests) will lead you to the interesting paths all the way to the countryside, among gardens and orchards, farmhouses in beautiful landscapes that maintain the typical style of the countryside of Romagna.

In fact, Romagna has always been rich in culture, crafts and ancient traditions, that are displayed at their best on the soft hills that dominate our hinterland.
